World Series Final Game Attracts 51M Viewers In the United States, Canadian and Japan Markets.

The exciting extra-inning clash where the Dodgers overcome the Toronto Blue Jays by one run averaged a combined over 50 million watchers in the United States, Canada, and Japanese territories. Major League Baseball announced this is the most-watched Fall Classic finale after the 1991 edition contest featuring the Twins and Braves.

Television Ratings Details

Last Saturday’s memorable game secured 27.33 million viewers on Fox Sports channels, Fox Deportes and their streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the week.

It additionally is the top-rated Fall Classic game since the 2017 edition final game between the Dodgers and Astros, which drew 29.07M. This marks a sixteen percent increase over the last Game 7 featuring the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which attracted 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game placed fourth, the fourth game ranked 7th, Game 5 came in eighth, and the third game finished in 13th place.

Global Audience Numbers

In Canada, the climactic game drew over 11 million viewers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This made it the highest-rated English broadcast in Canada after the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final contest started at 9 p.m. in the local time zone, it attracted 12M. This came after last Friday’s sixth game – in which World Series Most Valuable Player Yamamoto allowed one run in six innings – averaged 13.1 million viewers, making it the highest-rated World Series matchup on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Series Totals and Patterns

The full seven-game series drew 15.71M viewers on the Fox network, a two percent rise from the previous year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This represents the first time since 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has recorded viewership growth for two consecutive seasons.

Including the opening game telecast on Univision, the total US viewership was over 16 million. The overall World Series viewership in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox, FS1 and FS2 drew 8.09 million viewers, an eight percent increase compared to last year and Fox’s strongest playoff performance since the 2017 season.

MLB stated that the Fall Classic was televised in over 200 countries and territories by 44 broadcasting partners in sixteen different tongues.
