Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a diverse cast of heroes, and a thrilling plot including celestial beings, demons, and dark forces increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Revealing details for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The third episode ended with a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of adventurers who will separate from the central cast to embark on their separate journey, apart from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table features Teor (played by Travis), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), the cleric (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, weaving together the individual narratives before splitting into three smaller tables: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed battle-oriented gameplay experience where diplomatic options are scarce.
Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem mismatched, but the events of episode 3 demonstrate why these five characters are ideally matched for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the party understands precisely where to go next after a violent first encounter with the enemy group.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, invading the secret base, assaulting the character, and taking all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The traitor then settled his debts and fled to a fortified location in the northern region, north of the city, with Cyd pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each character has a personal reason to exit the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, wants retribution.
- Kattigan is familiar with the region and advises that it is a nasty environment.
- Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their reputation as key figures in the powerful family could enable the group access locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are sought by the rulers that control the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind too risky:
- Thimble and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and The healer betrayed House Halovar and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- Teor is marked for death by the clan.
This results in them no alternative but to travel to the northern region in quest for the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
From the recent installment’s follow-up content, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent the following episode, leaving the other eight players to round up the Questers and Strategists tables.
Fans can anticipate discovering which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the season’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
